Reporting to the Development Manager, you will coordinate the development of scope and design for track and civil related projects which are a part of the Hunter Valley annual asset maintenance plan. We are seeking an experienced civil engineer with 5 to 10 years design and/or construction experience. It is intended the role will initially focus on structures projects, such as bridge and culvert renewals and repairs, however may expand into other track and civil projects over time. The role is based in Broadmeadow, NSW.
As a Development Engineer within the Hunter Valley Engineering Team, you will liaise with structures and asset engineers to understand the scope requirements and intent of projects that are identified for delivery in the asset maintenance plan. The project scope is then progressively refined and assessed in accordance with internal stakeholder requirements, overall asset strategies, delivery and budget constraints. The project scopes require a level of validation including review of drawings, ARTC and Australian Standards and site inspections. The Development Engineer will progress certain projects through the design process, including preparation of scope documents suitable for competitive tendering, tender evaluation, engagement, design review and management. The successful candidate will be expected to closely liaise with designers regarding delivery programs, cost variations and undertaking design reviews. A particular focus of design reviews is the constructability of designs in an operational rail environment. Designs must be managed to ensure completion in accordance with strict budget and rail closedown timeframes.
